Now Accepting Teams for the 2017 Human Race

2017 HUMAN RACE IS ACCEPTING REGISTRATIONS FOR NONPROFIT TEAMS
17th annual Human Race presented by Community First Credit Union to take place May 6, 2017

The Volunteer Center’s Human Race is a non-competitive 5k or 1 mile walk/run benefitting local non-profit organizations. Non-profits, church groups, clubs and other interested organizations can register to raise funds in the Human Race by contacting the Volunteer Center at 920-832-9360 or kristin.cates@volunteerfoxcities.org. For-profit businesses can also get involved by entering a team, selecting a non-profit and raising funds on their behalf by collecting pledges.

The race will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the Thrivent Financial Grounds at 4321 N. Ballard Road in Appleton, WI. The Thrivent grounds and walkways are handicap and stroller accessible and pets are welcome. Members of the University of Wisconsin Marching band will be performing their famous 5th quarter routine during the event. Bill Jartz from WBAY-TV, and Doug Erickson and Mary Love of the Doug and Mary morning show on 95.9 KISS FM will be emceeing the event. Major event sponsors include presenting sponsor, Community First Credit Union and Media Sponsor, Stellar Blue Technologies.

The Human Race is unique in that race participants have the opportunity to raise funds and support one of almost 50 different local nonprofits in a single walk/run event. The Volunteer Center of East Central Wisconsin presents the fundraiser and coordinates the marketing, advertising, event logistics, materials and more. Simply put, the event allows participating nonprofits to focus their efforts on raising funds while the Volunteer Center facilitates the event.

Any nonprofit that is a 501(c)3 can join in the Human Race. Contact Kristin Cates for more information, kristin.cates@volunteerfoxcities.org or 920-832-9360. Or, visit https://www.volunteerfoxcities.org/the-human-race/.

Individuals and teams are encouraged to support a participating nonprofit. To join an existing nonprofit’s team, visit http://www.crowdrise.com/Human-Race, and select a team from the bottom of the page. If you don’t see your favorite nonprofit, contact Kristin Cates, 920-832-9360 and let us know that you’d like to form a new team on their behalf.

Pledges will be collected through May 19th, 2017. Donations benefit participating non-profit agencies as well as the Volunteer Center of East Central WI for their efforts in coordinating the event.
