Volunteer Professionals: The Difference-Makers Behind the Difference-Makers

Picture of the Fall 2025 Volunteer Engagement Training Program cohort

Today is National Make a Difference Day, and we can think of no better way to celebrate than by honoring the Difference-Makers behind the Difference-Makers: Volunteer Professionals! They tirelessly create opportunities for connection and support of critical nonprofit work. Some coordinate volunteers full-time, others do it as part of a dozen other responsibilities. Our community would not be the same without them.

As we wrap up Miron Construction Make a Difference Week, we want to sincerely thank ALL volunteer professionals, and in particular, we’re elevating the local professionals taking extra time to participate in our current Volunteer Engagement Training Program cohort.

The Volunteer Engagement Training Program, VETP, developed by Points of Light, is a series of six modules that provide a comprehensive understanding of the components of a volunteer program. It helps volunteer administrators and anyone responsible for recruiting, coordinating, or managing volunteers to get the latest research and best practices in the industry. Because it’s offered as a cohort, members get to know one another and form supportive bonds that last even after the class is over.

Volunteer Fox Cities is offering VETP for the first time Oct. 17 – Nov. 21 led by instructor Brad Creighton, in partnership with Bay Area Managers of Volunteer Services (BAMVS) & Volunteer Action Council (VAC) Fox Cities. Funding for the program comes from the Community Vision Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region

“We’re proud of this talented and committed group for taking time out of their busy schedules to further develop themselves and their programs. The work of these difference-makers often goes unnoticed behind the scenes, but it is vital to our community ecosystem,” said Volunteer Fox Cities CEO Carolyn Desrosiers.
