Our Story

Our Growth

Our Future

In 1993, Volunteer Fox Cities began in a one-room office at the former Thompson ommunity Center in Appleton. It was a dream for the Volunteer Action Council, a group of volunteer administrators, to establish a volunteer center. Their goal was to develop, organize and promote volunteerism to address critical community needs.

A decade later, we moved to our current location, in the first branch office of Community First Credit Union on South Oneida Street in Appleton. New location, but same mission – to provide nonprofits with volunteers and resources to help them meet their mission. We support our nonprofit partners by providing guidance in planning volunteer activities; assistance in evaluating their volunteer programs; connections to resources and training in volunteer management.

VFC also works extensively with the business community to develop their volunteerism and community engagement programs that support area nonprofits.

No one could have envisioned the changing landscape of volunteerism the past few years, the hybrid work environment or the growing importance of corporate responsibility, all factors contributing to the expansion of our programs and services.

We are serving more nonprofits and experiencing growing pains! Staff members share desks; only one conference room is available; no training space exists, and volunteers work on special projects in the hallways.

We need your help!

Through strategic planning, our board of directors determined that we are at capacity with our current location. We are limited in our ability to respond to the needs of nonprofits and the business community and expland our programs and services.

Our goal is to raise $1 million to purchase a larger facility and continue making an impact in the communities we serve.

Your donation of any amount will help keep the dream of promoting volunteerism and addressing critical community needs alive and well.
